EMOTIONAL UPDATE: Robin Roberts receives huge support from fans after heartfelt announcement

Robin Roberts has had a long career in broadcast journalism, from ESPN to Good Morning America. Recently, she had some emotional news to share with fans concerning her career. Since then, a lot of fans shared their reactions to the post on social media.
Robin Roberts First Joined Good Morning America In 2005
One of Roberts’ first big breaks into broadcast journalism was working for ESPN. She stayed with the network for around 15 years, notably being the first woman to co-host NFL Primetime.
In 2005, Roberts became a co-host for Good Morning America. However, Roberts recently had some career news to share with fans on social media.

Taking to Instagram, Roberts shared that her production company, Rock’n Robin Productions, got nominated for Outstanding Recorded News Special at the 2026 News and Documentary Emmy Awards. She received a nod for the special, Hurricane Katrina: 20 Years After the Storm.
During the 2025 special, Roberts visited New Orleans to explore the city after it dealt with the impact of Hurricane Katrina. Notably, Roberts, who herself attended Southeastern Louisiana University, is also the sister of Sally-Ann Roberts, an anchor for WWL-TV in New Orleans.
Roberts Had Been Nominated For A News & Documentary Emmy Award Multiple Times In The Past
The share was given in a joint post from Roberts and her production company’s official Instagram accounts. As the post was captioned, “Honored to be recognized with a 2026 News & Documentary Emmy nomination for Outstanding Recorded News Special.”

As noted by Good Housekeeping, Roberts has also been nominated for a News and Documentary Emmy Award multiple times throughout her career. This includes a 2010 trophy for covering the 2009 Presidential Inauguration.
