BREAKING: ABC announces massive shakeup for George Stephanopoulos’ This Week

ABC News has announced a massive shake-up which may change the way its flagship Sunday show looks.

A new exec is on the way to run George Stephanopoulos‘ This Week, which could lead to a whole revamp of the program.

It’s understood that Stephanopoulos, anchor of the hit ABC show, will soon have Jon Schlosberg as the new executive lead.

The “streaming-era” producer will be at the helm of the top political program after a five-year stint as a senior producer of “Prime with Linsey Davis,” ABC News Live’s flagship streaming newscast.

Schlosberg will be based in Washington, DC, and will start the new role on May 6.

ABC has announced he will work with anchor Stephanopoulos alongside co-anchors Martha Raddatz and Jonathan Karl.

Schlosberg first joined ABC News in 2018 as a producer and helped launch its 24/7 streaming platform, ABC News Live, as the network pushed deeper into digital news.

Known to be a streaming enthusiast, he previously held roles at ABC-owned station KGO-TV in San Francisco and WVUE-TV in New Orleans.

He has been executive producer for elections, presidential debates and major international conflicts, including coverage of the Russia-Ukraine war and the Israel-Gaza fighting.

“Jon is a tenacious journalist and exceptional leader who has been instrumental across the ABC News Group for more than a decade, bringing precision, creativity and integrity to some of the most consequential stories of our time,” Rick Klein, the Washington bureau chief for ABC News, said in a statement.

“His sharp political instincts, deep experience in linear as well as streaming television, and proven ability to build winning teams make him exactly the right person to lead ‘This Week’ into its next chapter.”

The news of change came as another of ABC’s shows was set for change.

Good Morning America has given one it its longstanding anchors the boot, opting to move forward without renewing her contract.

Janai Norman has been weekend co-anchor on the show for almost four years but will not be returning, it was announced last week.

She lost her job on Good Morning America after showrunners opted not to renew her contract, according to the Daily Mail.

“Her contract was up. There was a decision not to renew,” a source close to the situation told the outlet.

A day before the source came forward, Status reported that Janai was leaving the show.

She joined ABC in 2016, working as a reporter.
